Special community events throughout the year bring families together to celebrate our school spirit, our cultures and our talents as we build bonds of friendship.
Bringing together families, friends, alumni and staff, the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival celebrates reunion and gratitude during the harvest season. In a carnival-like atmosphere, children of all ages explore stations of hands-on activities and games planned by YCIS teachers.
Families who camp together, grow together. The Family Camping Trip at Little Basin quickly became one of most popular school community events and is now held annually. Organized by a parent committee, the event features shared meals around a campfire, hikes, music, games and more.
The Fall and Spring Movie Nights draw crowds of pajama-clad children to enjoy a meal, popcorn and movies with friends. With a short film for younger children and a longer movie for older students, everyone is sure to have fun.
The Chinese New Year Celebration is the signature cultural event of the year for the entire school community. Students, parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty and staff all come together to celebrate the start of the Lunar New Year. Donning traditional Chinese costumes, students from our youngest preschoolers to our middle schoolers perform songs, dances, skits, poems and more to showcase the richness of Chinese culture.
Launching into summer, the End-of-Year Family BBQ Picnic features fantastic food, fun games and fellowship.
