Summer Fun in Silicon Valley
Summer is a great time to get outside, feel the sunshine on your skin and let your kids explore. Read on for a few of our favorite destinations!
Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo
Cost: Free!
Tip: A small space which is part museum and part zoo, all free! An hour is probably enough time for most kids here. Combine this visit with one to Magical Bridge Playground (a favorite for all kids – do not miss the outdoor interactive Magical Harp!)
Lick Observatory
Cost: Free!
Tip: The drive is twisty and turny and takes longer than you may think. Pack a lunch. After visiting the observatory, take in the outdoor view.
Happy Hollow Zoo
Cost: General Admission (ages 2-59) $14.25, $10 for parking
Tip: Go in the morning when it’s quieter – the lines for the rides move slowly! There is a cafe, but better to pack a picnic lunch and snacks.
Deer Hollow
Tip: Deer Hollow Farm is a 160 year-old historical ranch in Silicon Valley. Explore preserved historical buildings; visit cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and pigs; picnic in a wide open space. Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, definitely bring water and snacks. This is a long walk – strollers and bikes are welcome!Google Map (Specific directions on Deer Hollow Farm’s site)
Billy Jones

Tip: Lines for the train can get long on the weekends. Arrive early, have your kids use the bathroom before getting in line and bring snacks and water. There is also a great big playground around back!
