Tuition and Fees 2019-20

The academic year is from August 20, 2019 to June 12, 2020.

 

Preschool Tuition (ages 2-5)

Preschool Academic Year (August 9, 2019 – June 12, 2020)

Half Day (8 a.m.-12 p.m.)               $19,500

Full Day   (8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)          $22,750

Extended Day (8 a.m.-6 p.m.)       $27,500

 

Preschool Academic Year + Summer (August 20, 2019 – July 31, 2020)

Half Day (8 a.m.-12 p.m.)               $21,450

Full Day   (8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)          $25,025

Tuition includes: learning materials and supplies, field trips and snacks.

Preschool Mini-Camps for School Breaks:

Optional childcare mini-camps will be offered for three school breaks at an additional cost.  

 

Kindergarten to Grade 8 Tuition

$26,200

The school day is 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.  Tuition includes: school supplies, textbooks, learning materials, most day field trips, testing fees (grades 3-8), after school orchestra (grades 4-8) and 1:1 laptops (grades 3-5), mobile unit laptops/ipads (K-2), individual laptops for each student (grades 6-8).

Grades 6-8 Tuition: Middle school students enrolled in 2019/20 will receive a $5,000 Founding Families discount in recognition of their support of our growing middle school program.

 

After School Program Fees (Grades K-8)

Yew Chung Arts and Language Program (YALP) – 3:15 – 6:00 p.m.

The YALP after school program is an extended day program for YCIS students. YALP provides homework support, educational activities in Chinese to support language learning, outdoor play and a snack. Optional teacher-led extracurricular classes are offered at no additional cost to YALP students.

$4,750 = Annual fee for 5 days per week

$30 per day = daily rate for 1-4 days per week invoiced monthly

YALP also offers a variety of Enrichment Classes after school for K-8 students. Most Enrichment Classes are provided by third-party organizations and incur a separate fee.

YALP offers Summer Camps for students entering Kindergarten to Grade 8.

 

Tuition Discounts

Sibling Discount

We offer a 20% sibling discount off the lower tuition for families with two or more children.

Tuition Payment Plan Discount

Tuition payments made in Full or Semi-Annually are eligible for a tuition discount on remaining balance due after payment of $1,500 tuition deposit. The discount is 3% for Full payment and 2% for Semi-Annual.

Founding Families Discount – Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Middle School students enrolled in 2019/20 will receive a $5,000 Founding Families Discount in recognition of their support of our growing middle school program.

 

Tuition Payment Plans

Tuition Deposit

A non-refundable tuition deposit of $1,500 per student, along with an enrollment contract, is required for all new and returning students to secure a place at YCIS. All payment plans include a credit for the tuition deposit.

New Student Fee

A one-time, non-refundable New Student Fee of $1,000 is due with the first tuition payment upon initial enrollment at YCIS.

Payment Plan Options

FULL:  Payment of the full amount of tuition due on July 1, 2019. There is a 3% discount on net tuition due after payment of tuition deposit for this payment option when enrolled by August 1.

SEMI-ANNUAL:  Two payments of 50% each due on July 1, 2019 and December 1, 2020. There is a 2% discount on net tuition due after payment of tuition deposit for this payment option when enrolled by August 1.

TEN MONTHS:  10 equal payments from July 1, 2019 – April 1, 2020.

 

Other Student Expenses

Overnight Field Trips:  Most school field trips are covered by tuition. However, supplemental field trips, overnight field trips and school trips such as the 5th Grade trip to China or Middle School trips to Costa Rica and Washington, D.C. will incur additional costs. These trips are planned in advance with input from parents.

School Uniforms:  YCIS students in Grades K-8 are required to purchase their school uniforms through our supplier, Land’s End.  Land’s End offers high quality, reasonably priced uniform items. They also offer many promotions throughout the year.

Lunch Program:  Parents may choose to order hot lunches for their children through the school’s catering service.

Violin (K-4):  Students in Grades K-4 are required to rent or purchase a new or used violin for their music lessons. Guidelines for selecting an appropriate instrument are provided by the music teacher prior to the beginning of the school year.

Class Fund:  The school’s Parent Organization collects a modest annual contribution from parents for their child(ren)’s class fund to support extracurricular class-based celebrations and activities.

 

Financial Aid

We believe a bilingual education should be open to all. To the extent our resources allow, we are committed to supporting families who wish to enroll their children at YCIS Silicon Valley but cannot otherwise afford to do so. Financial Aid is available to current and new students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 who demonstrate financial need.  All Financial Aid applications are submitted through FACTS Management.
