Our YCIS family is truly a unique community committed to providing extraordinary care for each child in a supportive, child-centered, academically excellent Mandarin-English dual language environment. We are a welcoming community where Eastern and Western values are respected and encouraged. Our bilingual program provides a challenging academic environment emphasizing learning as well as social and emotional growth as we prepare compassionate, multicultural leaders of tomorrow.
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! As Head of School at Yew Chung International School-Silicon Valley, I’m honored to serve in this role and fully recognize the importance of this position as we collectively work as an organization to achieve excellent outcomes for all learners.
YCIS-SV celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year. I’m honored and humbled to lead the school into its next era. I come to this position on the heels of some devoted prior leaders – all of whom left their mark on this school. I also find myself in the enviable position of being able to work with what I believe to be some of the most talented, dedicated, and passionate staff.
YCIS-SV’s Board asked me what I considered my key priorities for YCIS-SV. I’ll share two of those with you as part of our organizational transparency.
As we look ahead, I know our YCIS-SV team will work to find a home for these priorities in our organization’s goals and strategies. Our team will also continue to make sure we communicate with you and include you as partners. Together, we’ll work to achieve our vision of ensuring every student excels.
As I reflect on my own personal sense of urgency around our collective work, I believe the quotation below sums it up best.
“Tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there ‘is’ such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our community.
