“I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I love how YCIS gives me the opportunity to be creative, pushes me to grow professionally, and feel challenged. I have worked in both the Shanghai and Silicon Valley branches. When coming back to YCIS this year, the Assistant Head of School said, “Welcome ‘home’!” My heart melted. I feel welcomed, appreciated, and that I belong. What I love about teaching is being part of a child’s life, even if it is for that one year, while planting the seeds of education and life lessons. I feel honored to be partnering with families, a team of teachers, administrators, and staff. It truly takes a village.”
Education:
B.A. Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine. M.A. in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount. Certification: Cleared Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
“At YCIS, students have the distinct opportunity to learn joyfully, grow empathetically, and explore confidently within a bilingual, intercultural community from preschool through grade 8. Learning two world languages concurrently—Mandarin and English—your child will develop both language and cultural fluency, cultivate flexibility and open-mindedness, and enhance critical communication skills.”
Education:
BA in Psychology Education from Liaoning Normal University.
Currently Pursuing Courses At UCLA
” I was born and raised in Southern California. As for fun facts about me, I have a passion for reading and exploring the wonders of nature. I chose to be a part of YCIS because of my immense love for the kids here, coupled with the strong sense of community the school fosters. What I treasure most about teaching at YCIS is the opportunity to build lasting relationships with students and their families and the adoption of the PBL teaching style. Beyond just academics, teaching offers me the rewarding experience of instilling confidence and mindfulness in my students. Speaking of the strengths of our dual language instruction, it not only immerses students in Chinese culture but also ensures that by the time they leave, they are highly skilled in the Chinese language.”
I was born in the east side of the U.S.A. (Rhode Island) and lived in the East Coast, Canada & Taiwan before my parents and I came to Sunnyvale when I was 3 years old. I have stayed pretty close by since then, studying and working in places from South San Jose to El Cerrito to San Francisco. I am familiar with the Mountain View/Milpitas area and have not been far for long.
I love to make people laugh and feel all the feels. I love singing, dancing, writing and watching others perform and/or share their passions.
I was looking for a place for my son to start kindergarten and was hoping to be able to teach in the same community as he would be in. As timing worked out, Vivian and I connected, and my experiences working with infants and toddlers allowed me to co-teach in one of the first 2 year old classes at YCIS-Silicon Valley. It felt like it was meant to be! Since then, I have seen the YCIS community grow and evolve into what it is today. I have made some special friendships and connections, and my (now teenager) son received a bilingual, multicultural education that offered lifelong connections, special friendships, amazing teachers, and a trip to China with his 5th grade class!
I love being a part of a child’s first experiences, including learning how to communicate, how to become intentional with and aware of actions and interactions, as a separate individual and within different communities. My work with toddlers transitioning into preschoolers continues to teach me so much and reminds me to appreciate and remember to see the wonder and awe in what is happening around me, in each moment.
I think having a co-teaching model offers our community many opportunities to remember that it takes attentive dedication, ongoing awareness and personalized energy to build a strong, cohesive, sustainable educational foundation. “

“I was born and raised in Singapore, a multi-racial bilingual country with diverse ethnic groups and cultures. I had relocated to the Bay Area since last year (2022) with my family. When I am not at work, I will be spending my time with my family exploring the Bay Area. I love listening to music and my favorite genres of music include Pop, Jazz and Blues. I had also learnt to play instruments like piano, saxophone and guitar. I was drawn to YCIS about its bilingual education and its diversity. What further impressed me was the close community and the welcoming environment. It feels like a big family striving together as ONE to provide the best we can.”
Education:
B.Sc. Banking and Finance from University of London
“My fondness for YCIS began from the very first day due to its welcoming and familial ambiance! The aspect I appreciate most about this school is witnessing the collaboration and dual language instruction. Everyone shares the same objectives: ensuring our students flourish in an affectionate and secure setting, utilizing science and technology as tools to explore the world around them, and guiding our students to embrace and honor diverse cultures while contributing positively to our community.
I got married and moved to the Bay Area from Taiwan in 2001. In my free time, I find enjoyment in being with my family, going on hikes, reading books, and tending to my garden.”

B.S. Foreign Languages and Literatures from National Taiwan University. M.S. in Education from New York University. Certifications: Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, BCLAD in Chinese Language Certification, and Taiwan Academic Rank Certificate: Instructor
